The research project, “Restoration and enhancement” made by PIACENTI SpA in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence, took place on the Isle of Kizhi in Karelia (Russia) and had various objectives in mind. These may be summarized as follows:
Enhancement of landscape design and territory based on a multidisciplinary project developed by the University of Florence and PIACENTI SpA;
Relief for documentation and a project of restoration of the elements in wood of these monuments built of wood found on Kizhi Island, with particular reference to the Church of the Transfiguration;
Formulation and design of proposed restoration of Icons in the Church of the Transfiguration, and their subsequent relocation “in situ”.
