A $12 million restoration project has kicked off at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
The church is on Unesco’s World Heritage danger list, as it badly needs restoration.
Ray Bondin is in Bethlehem as part of an archaeological mission of the Second University of Naples.
Also on a personal basis, he has been asked by the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage to give his views on the restoration project.
He will be leading a seminar of local heritage experts to discuss the state of conservation of the Church of the Nativity and to prepare a report for Unesco.
